Jason Ryan, Basso-Deepo,
'found his voice' long after college days. Both solo and choral opportunities
came quickly in his home region of SE Ohio, ranging from the brief 'Voice of
God', in Little Shop of Horrors, to meatier roles. His most memorable
role, a meaty-pie role, was that of Sweeney Todd, with the Ohio Valley Summer
Theater. In the summer of 1993 he moved to Maryland where he began singing with
the Baltimore Opera Company and Concert Artists of Baltimore. Jason has
appeared as a soloist with the Baltimore Opera in productions of Tosca,
Macbeth, La Traviata, La Boheme, La Gioconda, Susannah, and twice in the Tale
of Johnnie S. Kickey. Most recently Jason debuted his ear-piercing
whistling skills in Tales of Hoffman.
Jason is a student of Fred Petrich and has been featured soloist with the Lancaster Chorale, Concert Artists of Baltimore, the Baltimore Choral Arts Society and the Baltimore Symphony Pops. He's been principal bass soloist for St. Mark's Lutheran Church (under the direction of Maestro James Harp) and most recently with the Church of the Redeemer. Jason is active in voice over work with the recording studio at the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. When not singing (or speaking) for one of these groups, Jason manages to perform a bit of massage therapy.
