Brian Pettey

Brian Petty     Brian Pettey, from Niceville, FL, received his Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the Peabody Conservatory, studying with Dr. Steven Rainbolt. A lyric baritone, he is also organist and music director at the Church of the Advent in Baltimore’s Federal Hill and part-time rehearsal accompanist to the Harbor Opera Company.

Past performances at Peabody have included the title role in Papageno!, a children’s adaptation of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (with the Peabody outreach), Tirsi, in Monteverdi’s Tirsi e Clori, Hermann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann of Offenbach, Belcore, in selections from Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore and most recently the clock and the black cat in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortileges. With Harbor Opera he has appeared in the trio of Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, a role which he repeated with Opera Vivente as part of Baltimore’s Artscape festival, and in whose latest production -- Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld -- he was seen as Mars. Upcoming engagements include Antonio in The Gondoliers with the Young Victorian Theater Company and several song and chamber music recitals in the Baltimore area.

When not singing or playing, Brian enjoys cooking and crossword puzzles -- he even picks at his banjo once in a while -- all those quaint domestic pastimes at which a person from "Niceville" should excel.
